In the summer
of 2006, regional agency representatives and G/FLRPC staff convened to
discuss the progress of various water and environmental planning and
implementation activities taking place within the Genesee River Basin.
Out of this initial discussion grew the motivation to plan for and host a
conference on the Genesee River and its associated natural resources. A
planning committee was formed in January 2007 and has begun the process of
organizing an event that will provide a venue to assess research,
restoration and educational progress and needs of the Genesee River
Basin. It is the committee’s hope that this event will serve as an
opportunity to further the knowledge and awareness of the state of the
river and its associated ecological systems, including Lake Ontario.
Conference goals include analysis of trends and increased agency
collaboration with particular emphasis on future planning and restoration
efforts.
