Agricultural Districts

 

 Some items for discussion include:

  1. Potential of cooperative efforts (NYS Agriculture & Markets, Farm Bureau, County Planners, etc.) for improving and streamlining the Ag District renewal process.

  2. Implications of NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets' enforcement of the right-to-farm provisions in Article 25-AA.

  3. Potential revisions to the Agricultural Districts law which would allow changes to districts between formal review periods.

  4. Protections afforded by the Agricultural Districts program for the practice of spreading sewage sludge on agricultural lands

  5. Status of the review/revision of the State's "programmatic environmental assessment" of the Agricultural Districts program

  6. Local regulation within Agricultural Districts

  7. Development in Agricultural Districts

  8. Potential to submit only a digital GIS Agricultural Districts map

  9. NYS Department of Agriculture & Markets assessment process - whether a local government has acted reasonably or unreasonably if there is a complaint by a farm.

  10. Protection from the potential negative impacts of intensive agricultural development in Agricultural Districts and in lands surrounding those Districts.

  11. Current practice of protection of all existing agricultural uses with one single uniform Agricultural District designation.
