The Data, Technology & Resource Center includes the New York State Census Data Affiliate Program, Geographic Information Systems & Remote Sensing, Resource Library with GIS data inventory as well as a comprehensive Web Site.

 

 

 

 

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services include general mapping, needs assessments, data/database development, data conversion, digitalization, GIC/CAD and ArcMIS integration, demographic analysis, project planning & management and application development.

 

The functional elements of a GIS are hardware, software, data and personnel.  All four must be integrated and of high quality.  G/FLRPC continuously maintains and upgrades its computer hardware, software and data as well as maintaining a high level of staff technical expertise.

 

GIS has become an integral part of nearly all projects at G/FLRPC but specifically applications includes various planning activities (aviation, land use/zoning, municipal, water resources & watershed management, etc.), demographic analysis and economic development programs.

 

Remote Sensing services include the classification and analysis of satellite imagery and the integration of digital ortho-imagery and aerial photography.

 

Socio-Economic & Demographic Data development, analysis and dissemination program serves the region's needs in terms of socio-economic and demographic data dissemination, compilation, projection and analysis.

 

 

 

Hardware and Software is a critical aspect of the Data, Technology & Resource Center at G/FLRPC.  Hardware includes Pentium based workstations, color printers & large-scale plotters, digitizing boards and a high-speed broadband internet connection.  GIS software includes ArcGIS 8, ArcView 3.2, ArcIMS, PC ArcInfo, AtlasGIS, ArcCAD, AutoCAD and ENVI (The Environment for Visualizing images) image analysis software.

 

Resource Library is an extensive collection of reports, books, and periodicals dealing with planning, economic development, and demographic information.  The Resource Library also includes GIS data and maps developed and/or used by G/FLRPC, as well as a large collection of digital photographic images of our region.
