As part of the Controlling Sediment in Black and Oatka Creek Watersheds project, Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council (G/FLRPC) can provide planning staff assistance to municipalities in the Black and Oatka Creek watersheds. Communities interested in assistance with revising their land use plans or local laws with a goal of protecting the water resources of Black and Oatka Creeks are encouraged to apply. Interested municipalities must complete the application form in order to be eligible for consideration. Applications must be received by October 3, 2005. The Controlling Sediment in Black and Oatka Creek Watersheds project has five components. · The first component included presentations on the status of the Black and Oatka Creeks to town and village boards. · The second component produced the Identification and Analysis of the Riparian Corridor in the Black & Oatka Creek Watersheds report which identifies, analyzes and makes recommendations for the most severely eroded streambanks in the creek corridors. · The third component includes an assessment and gap analysis of local laws and practices of municipalities in the two watersheds in relation to water resources (underway). · The fourth includes prioritization of water resources issues in the watersheds and integration with watershed management planning efforts (to be completed). · The fifth component includes working with interested communities in revising their plans and local laws with respect to water resources best practices (starting now).
