How
the digital camera was used:
-
Aerial
and on-the-ground shots of industrial sites and office parks in the
nine county region using the Kodak DCA 420 camera.
-
On
CD ROM: Database with digital photography available
-
On
Web: A sampling of the major sites will be incorporated into the
webpages of G/FLRPC so that interested parties can click on a site
and not only see the database, but the digital photo(s) (ground and
a some aerial) as well.
-
In
reports: For the executive summary report, a few digital photos will
be utilized in the printed reports to accompany the database
information.
-
As
part of GIS database user can click on particular site and have
database and digital photography available
Why
the camera is useful:
The
developer or business looking at properties in the region can gain
important information from the database, and can get a "virtual"
look at the property itself. They can get a feel for the infrastructure
surrounding the property, the condition of existing buildings, and how the
property is situated in an industrial/office park. By giving developers
this additional insight, the number of unknowns, and therefore the risk,
is reduced. Digital photography (both aerial and on-the-ground) can be
easily integrated with geographic information systems, databases, internet
web sites, CD-ROMs, reports, and other digital applications. The quality
of digital photos clearly exceeds that of scanned prints.
