Jayme Breschard Thomann Senior Planner Jayme Breschard Thomann has been providing comprehensive planning support to the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region since 2006. Her focus on historic preservation planning at G/FLRPC and assistance with community revitalization programs such as the Western Erie Canal Main Street Program was recognized by the New York State Historic Preservation Office in 2009 by receiving the New York State Historic Preservation Award for Public Sector Achievement. She began her career with computer-aided design and drafting and hazard mitigation analysis at Dewberry in Fairfax, Virginia. She worked on the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program contract and participated in FEMA’s Public Assistance program during active hurricane seasons and the 2001 World Trade Center disaster. Other experiences include representation on the Town of Brookhaven Historic District Advisory Committee, as an environmental planner with a planning firm in Southampton, Long Island, and assistance with cultural resource documentation for Long Island’s South Shore Estuary Reserve with Long Island Traditions. Areas of Expertise Jayme enjoys working with municipalities on incorporating the protection of significant environmental, historic and cultural resources into various planning initiatives. She has presented at the G/FLRPC Biannual Local Government Workshop, Landmark Society of Western New York Annual Conference, Monroe County Department of Planning and Development Land Use Decision-Making Training Program, New York State Canals Conference, New York State Wetlands Forum, Inc. Annual Conference, Cornell University’s Preservation: Sustainability 3, and the New York Upstate Chapter of the American Planning Association Annual Conference on a range of historic preservation, environmental planning, and downtown revitalization issues. Jayme has also coordinated three Regional Roundtable series: historic preservation and public consensus building; waterfront planning and development; and green infrastructure for stormwater management.
