Clean Energy Communities Program

Across the State, local governments are striving to create a healthy and sustainable environment by investing in future-focused clean energy solutions for their community. At the same time, municipal leaders are facing unprecedented societal and financial challenges in their communities.

NYSERDA’s Clean Energy Communities Program provides the resources and funding to help communities successfully execute and achieve those goals.

The Leadership Round of Clean Energy Communities, launched in January 2021, provides more opportunities for you to improve your community, access increased grant funding, and earn recognition. By completing High Impact Action Items, local governments can access the $17 Million available State-wide to help their municipality reduce energy consumption and drive clean energy use in their community.

With support and guidance from your region’s Clean Energy Communities Coordinator to implement high-impact clean energy actions, you have a clear path to building community-wide resiliency and economic opportunity.

If you’re interested in the Clean Energy Communities Program and pursuing Designation as a Clean Energy Community, please contact Rob Richardson, the Coordinator for the Genesee/Finger Lakes Region, so he can help you get started.
